James L. Downey, MD, Emeritus

Dr. Downey is a graduate of Yale University and Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. He interned at Bellevue Hospital and completed pediatric residency at Babies (Presbyterian) Hospital in New York City. He is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Northwestern University Medical School, a senior-attending physician at Evanston Hospital, and on the attending staff at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Dr. Downey is Board Certified in Pediatrics, a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a member of the Society for Adolescent Medicine.

In addition to general pediatrics, his particular interests are behavior and development as well as adolescent medicine. Now retired, Dr. Downey loves spending time with his numerous grandchildren. He has been with North Suburban Pediatrics since its inception in 1968.
