Bivalent Booster & Flu Vaccines Update

Dear Patient Families of NSP,

As you probably already know, the CDC has now recommended a new COVID vaccine booster referred to as the “bivalent vaccine booster” because it targets both the original strain of COVID-19 plus the more recent Omicron variants.

Everyone 12 years old and older is eligible for Pfizer’s bivalent vaccine, as long as it has been at least 2 months since their last COVID vaccine. Children ages 5 to 11 are eligible for a regular booster dose if they have not yet received it as well.

NSP has the bivalent COVID vaccine for patients aged 12 to 22 years, regular COVID vaccine for ages 6 months to 11 years, and the flu vaccine for ages 6 months and up available at our offices.

It is recommended to be vaccinated sometime this fall.  Your child can receive these vaccines at an upcoming well visit or follow-up visit.

We have a limited number of nurse visits available.  Therefore, we will be asking families to schedule one nurse visit for all of their children to receive the vaccines at the same visit.

With limited availability of appointments at our office, we encourage families to get the vaccines wherever possible. These vaccines are widely available at local pharmacies and hospital systems.

Please be patient if our phone lines are busy.  We are receiving a lot of phone calls each morning and our staff is working hard throughout the day to answer them in a timely manner.  Your kindness and patience is much appreciated!

Sincerely yours,

The Physicians at North Suburban Pediatrics
