Dr. Arthur Dechovitz

We are saddened to report the death of our long-time associate, Dr. Arthur Dechovitz. Arthur was born and raised in the South and graduated Emory Medical School in 1964. Despite his love of the South he came north to Chicago in order to complete his Pediatric training at Children’s Memorial Hospital and Northwestern University Medical School. After completing his training, he, along with Richard Burnstine and James Downey, founded North Suburban Pediatrics. Over the next more than forty years Arthur was a valued physician at the practice. His warm genteel manner coupled with a deep knowledge of pediatric medicine endeared him to his patients and their families. To this day, as we see families that he cared for, they speak of how deeply they are indebted to his expertise and to the great impact that he had on their families. Arthur was also a gifted teacher of medical students and pediatric residents. Arthur retired from North Suburban Pediatrics in 2012 and moved back to his beloved South where he continued to practice with the Pediatric Associates of West Palm Beach. He will be missed, but fondly remembered, by his colleagues and the many patients and families he cared for.
